Sushi!

Had lunch at Hitsumabushi today, and to satisfy my craving, it was an early sushi dinner in Tsukiji (at Sushizanmai which incidentally, is open for 24 hours)

Otoro, abalone, snow crab, uni and ikura sushi
x 2
yes I had 2 orders
they were 980JPY per order. It must be a mistake

my favorite Anago sushi. 400 JPY

and the finale - Aburi Otoro sushi x 2. It was heavenly with the baby chives, burnt salt...
398 JPY per piece of heaven

"No darling we can't bring him home"

Saturday, 28 August 2010

Long queue of visitors to A&F. It's kind of odd seeing the mainland Chinese thronging the place checking out the clothes, or rather the eye candy inside. The Chinese are everywhere

there was no queue (surprisingly) so I took a picture with the topless hunk of the day (I told him it's for my wife)

walking through Ginza

Saturday, 28 August 2010

The main thoroughfare of Ginza was closed to traffic today and picnic tables and chairs were set up right in the middle of the street, in 40C sun. They were not very popular :)

however, most of the locals are still staying off the road and sticking to the pavements. Old habits die hard I guess

A&F Ginza!

Thursday, 8 July 2010

located just opposite Prada and Tiffany & Co in Ginza, Abercrombie & Fitch just opened a 11 storey store selling

WHO CARES?

2 tall and really cute guys open the doors for you, and you would believe that you have just stepped into a uber cool club. Loud club music, sensual scent, dancing men and women (I kid not), women taking pictures with the topless guy with the perfect abs, chest, face...

Chest out, stomach in Charles. you can survive this. Now, where's that topless girl?

an apple or 2

Tuesday, 6 July 2010

It was a full day of meetings and conference calls. Lunch was good sushi at Edohama (03 3669 1781) where Saito-san has been going for 14 years! He mentioned that there is a sushi place back home in Osaka where he has been going for 45 years as a boy.

Rushed to Ginza after work to buy an iPad or 2 at the Apple Store.

was happy that store was still open. queued patiently only to be told that yes I may buy an iPad.

Do I have reservation? no.

3 weeks wait? okay... thank you then...

sulky face was after the failure... and hunger. haha

time for dinner! stores were already closed then at 9

Hitsumabushi = excellent eel

Saturday, 19 dec 2009

Hitsumabushi Nagoya Bincho ひつまぶし名古屋備長 in Ginza
東京都中央区銀座2丁目2番地14号 マロニエゲート12階
Best eel we have tasted is located inside the Marionette department complex above a huge Tokyu Hands store, this place serves eel grilled on charcoal to order. Really tasty and skin is crispy. Must try the house special (the "hitsumabushi"), eel on rice served with extra broth to mix in, ask the restaurant for the picture guide on how to eat - there are 3 steps for 3 different tastes. An English menu is available and produced automatically once they realise that you are not local. We went on 3 times in our 2008 visit and twice in 2009.
This will convert any non-unagi lovers. Ah, yes that is a sauce stain on the chopstick sleeve. :)

The Hitsumabushi set. at 2800 JPY not exactly cheap but worth every yen. c had the smaller eel don set which was 1900 JPY which she managed to finish.

Getting there:
We stayed in Shibuya, so we took the Ginza line from Shibuya station to Ginza station. Get out at Exit C8, make a left turn into the main street. Turn right at the main street, walk past Primtemps and the building is immediately after the small road crossing. restaurant is on the 12th floor.

After lunch set aside some time to browse Tokyu Hands store - the selection is just amazing. we loved the DIY section and kids went bonkers at the Stationery department.
