takoyaki and kyshu ramen

step into the tiny lane just after Kiddie Land and we headed for our favorite Takoyaki place. It's an experience eating piping hot takoyakis in the cold!
regular for the kids, and we had ours smoothered with egg!

Kyshu Jangara Ramen in Harajuku - 2 levels of delicious ramen! ask for english menu, or korean, or chinese if you like!

crepes, beauty and beauties

sunday, 20 dec 2009

left the hotel at 1, and headed straight for Shinjuku for our favorite crepes, located just opposite the Flags Building where Gap and Oshmans are. so far we declare this as the best in Tokyo! no where else comes close!

enjoying our crepes - 3 ham & cheese, 1 banana & chocolate, and 1 custard. yes, at the same time...

night falls (at 5?) and we ended up in Harajuku, where we make our regular pit stop at the beauty shop to stock up on the essential beauty products only found in Japan. not for me of course

wife and kids opposite Omotesando Hills. Omotesando is all lighted up for Christmas. Sadly, we found out that our favorite Croissant Shop at Omotesando Hills just closed down!!! we were all devastated!

fixies and ginger pork in Shibuya

saturday, 19 dec 2009

was looking out for fixies in Tokyo, and finally came across a couple of Charge fixies in Shibuya just chained outside a ginger pork don shop. not bad, but fixie inc wins hands down!

hole in the wall eatery just next to Shibuya Mark City along a small street...Decent ginger pork rice with raw egg at only 600 JPY. opens 1100-0300

small and simple eatery, but nicely decorated!

ginger pork rice = our comfort food

food R&D and money in the bank

c gets a chance to learn now R&D plays a part in the making of delicious Japanese food. i have to admit the curry rice made by the non-cooking process was pretty yummy

all kids get to open a bank account, and deposit their hard earned money to withdraw and use at their next visit. The $ is supposed to be valid at other Kidzania parks in other countries too

yes they even have kid-sized ATMs - unbelieveable!

flight Kidzania

kids waiting to board the plane for their stint as pilots

picture taken off the TV monitor on the groundfloor where the parents observe. c and j dressed in a captain's uniform and getting into their flight deck

they even had passengers and air stewardess. very realistic, but without the air tubulence

MOS Burger!

we do love mos burger for their freshly made burgers, and here the girls had a chance to learn how a hamburger is made, mos burger way.

the girls deviated from the usual with their special order (plain hamburger - no onions, no veg, no...) and it was interesting that they managed to convey that to their 'supervisor'

mission accomplished!

c and j made their own dinner - hamburger with coke!

coke is it!

one of the more popular jobs was at the Coke bottling plant. long queue for a sugary addiction!

kids learnt how the syrup mix, water and gas goes into each bottle of coke throughout the bottling process.

i actually like the uniforms!

each employee brings back their own bottle of coke, and an employment card, and 5 Kidzania dollars!

gainful employment

c and j first job was in a beauty clinic, learning the fine art of bowing to customers the Japanese way, and *gasp* applying makeup for a customer! they had a really cute girl who came in (and presumably paid in Kidzania dollars) for a makeover.

both of them also worked as lab technicians in a Yakult Laboratory. Donning white lab coats they learnt about benefits of Yakult, made a presentation and had a complimentary bottle of Yakult (tiny bottle compared to Singapore size)
