the other won ton noodle

at my previous visit riding in HK with the boys, we stopped for breakfast at this other famous won ton mee place just across from Mak's Noodle along Wellington Street. This is just down the road from Yung Kee, the famous goose and century egg institution.

I remembered it was very good, and especially memorable chilli sauce...

For some reason, the taxi meter and the tiny calendar is just so representative of HK to me...

We had brunch at Mak's Noodles (麥奀雲吞麵世家) at the Peak. recommended by the man himself, Anthony Bourdain. The original is at Wellington Street but this new stall works for us.

A confession. Not counting what the rest of the family had. I had 4 servings -

dry noodles with oyster sauce and shrimp roe

 dry noodles with pork

C had 2 bowls of won tons

I had 2 bowls of won ton noodles.
I like to think that the portions are way too small for a man. even my 4 year old nephew Max finishes 2 bowls at one sitting!

Fri, 11 March 2011

It's the march school holidays and we are in HK to meet with family and some close friends, and hoping to do a bit of shopping. With HKD6.09 to SGD1, this is a wonderful time to be in HK :)

first stop upon arrival is won ton mee at the maxims at the airport... even if it's at 10pm
