Many years ago Chloe placed a wish under this same tree. For 500 JPY you buy a blank wooden wishing 'card" and write down your wish. The shinto priests will then offer them and 'transmit' your wishes to heaven above.
There are many wishes received from all parts of the world. I had a peek and it is interesting how, regardless of where we come from, our positions in life etc, we all wish for similar things. And no, it is not just peace on earth, Miss Universe...
